Taking a polygraph test can feel overwhelming (even if you have nothing to hide!). Thankfully, I have some tips to help you prepare for a polygraph examination. You can’t “beat” my highly scientific lie detector tests, but following some simple polygraph rules can ensure the most accurate results and a more comfortable experience.
Before You Schedule Your Examination
It is important that you consider all these factors to determine whether you can take the test or not. All fees are non-refundable, so considering this will ensure that you don’t lose your money.
- Disclose medical information early: Let me know about any medications, physical health concerns, or mental/emotional issues that may affect your test results.
- If Pregnant: I do not administer polygraph tests to pregnant individuals. This is for your safety and the safety of your developing child.
- Serious health conditions: Just like in the case of pregnancy, this is not a mere polygraph test tip, but rather a rule that I follow strictly. If you have a heart condition or other serious physical issues, you will need a doctor’s approval before the test. I cannot conduct the test without a physician’s explicit permission.
After Your Appointment is Scheduled
- Avoid further discussion: I recommend that the involved parties stop discussing the case after the appointment is confirmed.
- Do not research polygraph exams: Reading about tests online during your polygraph preparation can increase anxiety and give you confusing or inaccurate polygraph test tips that worsen your nervousness. Don’t worry—I’ll walk you through everything you need to know. Not everything you read on the internet is true. Moreover, when you are telling the truth, it shows. I will keep you fully informed about the process.
What to Do on the Day of Your Exam
- Take your medications as usual, unless instructed otherwise.
- Eat lightly: Have a small meal or snack and a non-alcoholic drink beforehand.
- Get a good night’s sleep the night before.
- Wear a thin, short-sleeved shirt to stay comfortable and ensure proper equipment placement.
- Arrive early: Please show up at least 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment.
During the Exam
- Follow my instructions closely. Your cooperation is vital to achieving accurate results.
- Remember that I am a neutral, licensed professional who is here to help, not judge.
What NOT to Do on the Day of Your Exam
- Don’t apply lotions, oils, or hair products (e.g, hair spray, mousse, bath oil).
- Don’t wear tight or layered clothing.
- Don’t consume alcohol before the test.
